A Major Cultural Event Returns

Travel conditions, international participation and publishing logistics were among the factors considered.
Around 1,500 Events Planned
The 2026 programme will feature around 1,500 events across several creative and cultural fields. Visitors can expect sessions covering literature, arts, publishing, technology and creative industries. The programme will cater to publishing professionals, families and general visitors.
Publishers From 95 Countries
The fair is expected to bring exhibitors from 95 countries to Abu Dhabi. That international presence continues the event's role as a meeting point for publishers, authors and cultural institutions.
The Balkans Take Centre Stage
The Balkans will be the Guest of Honour at this year's fair. Special programming will explore the region's literature, history and cultural connections. The fair will also spotlight Al Khalil ibn Ahmad Al Farahidi as its Focus Personality. The eighth-century scholar played a foundational role in Arabic lexicography and prosody.
Don Quixote Named Book of the World
Miguel de Cervantes' Don Quixote has been selected as the Book of the World for the 2026 edition. Dedicated sessions will examine the novel's literary importance and lasting influence.
Poetry Nights Join the Programme
This year will also introduce a new Poetry Nights programme. The sessions will bring Arab poets together for readings, conversations and critical discussions.
Sheikh Zayed Book Award Ceremony
The 20th Sheikh Zayed Book Award ceremony will also take place during the fair. The award remains one of the region's leading literary and cultural honours.
Why the Fair Matters to Abu Dhabi
The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair has grown into a major regional cultural platform. It supports publishing, reading and the growth of Arabic cultural content. For visitors, it also offers opportunities to meet authors, browse books and join cultural discussions.
