Bahrain Interior Ministry: Warning siren had been sounded

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Interior in Bahrain said a warning siren had been sounded nationwide. Authorities have urged citizens and residents to stay calm and immediately go to shelter where they are safest.

US Military Intercepts Iranian Missiles and Drones

The US military also said it had intercepted a number of Iranian missiles and drones launched across the Gulf region, according to AFP, as well as carried out self-defence attacks on Iran's Qeshm Island

• Two other missiles targeted toward Kuwait either fell short of their mark or broke apart.

Drones Shot Down Over Regional Waters

Centcom also reported that:

• US strikes destroy three Iranian attack drones

• It is said that the drones were moving away from potential civilian traffic in regional water.

• Although civilian ships were near the scene, none was reported to be damaged by the incident.

US Conducts Strikes on Qeshm Island

The US military confirmed having conducted self-defense strikes against Qeshm Island, which lies in the strategically critical Strait of Hormuz.

The strikes targeted:

• Iranian military ground control station.

• Facilities that are thought to be connected to attacks over the past few days.

Strategic Importance of Qeshm Island

Qeshm Island is situated in the Strait of Hormuz — the world's most important oil and gas shipping gateway.

Since tensions between the US, Israel and Iran flared after late February, traffic on the waterway has been heavily disrupted.

No US Casualties Reported

Centcom confirmed that:

The operations did not injure any US forces.

The incoming threats were successfully neutralised.

The recent events underscore increasing security threats in the Gulf amid escalating frictions involving Iran, and the United States and Israel.
