CBSE announces 'full refund' for Grade 12 students if marks increase after re-evaluation
The "full refund" will be given to the Grade 12 students in India as for those students, who get their marks higher after re-evaluation, said India's Central Board of Secondary Education.
The board called it a "student-friendly" measure, adding that Class 12 Board Examinations were now to be corrected through On-Screen Marking (OSM) system.
Students expressed dissatisfaction with marks, posting on social media that the grades were considerably lesser than they had expected and blamed the new OSM system for it. Since then, CBSE has stood up in favour of its decision, arguing it is "sensitive" to student sentiments and it will take care of all the issues.
Reduced Fees and OSM Benefits
Moreover, the board also made fee cuts for:
-
Getting the scanned image of answer book
-
Verification of issues
-
Re-evaluation of marks
The new OSM system the board has stated makes easy:
-
"Error-free evaluation"
-
Transparency
-
Accountability
Although CBSE argued that OSM was good as it minimized human intervention and human-related errors, pupils kept complaining about their scores and many felt that the new system breeds such problems.
