Dubai-Fujairah in 69 minutes: Etihad Rail to boost tourism

Once operational, Etihad Rail’s first completed passenger station in Fujairah (UAE) will connect one of the UAE's less accessible areas with improvements to tourism and commercial activity once train services resume.

Hilal City station will provide an integrated transport interchange for Fujairah and the national rail network for 11 cities and regions in the UAE, said Adhraa Almansoori, executive director commercial at Etihad Rail.

The station is expected to boost tourism, as well as ease travel for residents and visitors.

Faster Travel Across the UAE

For those who look like direct-connect circuits, travel times will shorten to two hours for connections looking at speeds of up to 200 km/h:

  • Dubai to Fujairah: 69 Minutes (Approximately)

  • Abu Dhabi–Fujairah: 1 hour 45 min

The rail network, he said, will also change the investment landscape in multiple sectors:

Tourism
Real estate
Healthcare
Education
Culture

The Fujairah station is one of three major stations set to open across the UAE this year alongside Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which will account for 11 stations in total across the country.

Comfortable Passenger Experience

Officially opening its doors — the 51,900-square-metre station has been constructed with almost 70 per cent locally sourced materials and will include:

Retail outlets
Food and beverage services
Accessibility features
Wi-Fi and power outlets
Dedicated luggage spaces
Two classes per train, with room for 400 passengers.

Almansoori said the trains and stations were fully configured to suit families, business travellers as well as first-time rail users in the UAE.

Passenger services are due to commence in stages from 2026 and, when the system is fully operational, it will serve about 10 million passengers each year.
