Dubai gold price drop in early trade; 18K slips below Dh400 per gram

Gold prices edged lower in Dubai on Wednesday morning as international bullion prices declined ahead of the release of the US Federal Reserve’s meeting minutes later in the day.

24K Gold Falls to Dh524.25

According to Dubai Jewellery Group data, 24K gold was trading at Dh524.25 per gram at the market open on Wednesday, down from Dh526.00 per gram on Tuesday.

Other major gold variants also recorded slight declines:

22K: Dh485.50 per gram
21K: Dh465.50 per gram
18K: Dh399.00 per gram
14K: Dh311.25 per gram

The 18K rate slipped below the Dh400-per-gram mark, while 14K remained the most affordable option among the listed variants.

Global Gold Prices Also Decline

Internationally, spot gold was trading at $4,340 per ounce, down 0.56 per cent. The precious metal had crossed the $4,400-per-ounce level earlier this week

US Interest Rate Expectations in Focus

Market attention is now focused on the Federal Reserve meeting minutes, with investors assessing the outlook for US monetary policy.

Rania Gule, senior market analyst for Mena at XS.com, said gold is currently operating in a more favourable environment for regaining its bullish momentum.

However, she noted that the rally will depend on whether gold can consolidate its recent gains without geopolitical developments creating inflationary pressure that could push the Federal Reserve towards a more hawkish stance.

Weaker Economic Data Supports Gold

Recent US economic data, including weaker-than-expected July nonfarm payrolls and more moderate inflation indicators, has reduced expectations of a rate hike at the Federal Reserve’s next meeting.

The changing outlook for US monetary policy remains one of the key factors influencing gold prices, as investors continue to monitor interest rates, inflation and geopolitical developments.

Gold Market Outlook

While gold remains supported by expectations of a more favourable monetary environment, analysts warn that continued gains will depend on the Federal Reserve’s policy direction and the broader global economic and geopolitical landscape.
