Dubai gold prices steady as 24K trades below Dh500 per gram

Gold prices in Dubai remained largely unchanged on Monday as investors adopted a cautious approach ahead of next week's US Federal Reserve (FOMC) policy meeting, which is expected to provide fresh signals on future interest rate decisions.

Gold Trades Below AED 500 Mark

Gold prices remained relatively stable throughout the past week, trading below the AED 500 per gram level for most sessions, except for a brief rise on Wednesday before stabilizing again.

Analysts See Cautious Market Sentiment

Market analysts noted that gold continues to show a cautious bearish trend in the short term after approaching the 200-period Exponential Moving Average (EMA) on the four-hour chart.

According to Vijay Valecha, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at Century Financial UAE, gold has given up much of its earlier weekly gains as geopolitical tensions have driven energy prices higher.

Rising Oil Prices Add Inflation Concerns

The ongoing US-Iran conflict has pushed Brent crude oil above $100 per barrel for the first time since early June, increasing concerns about inflation.
Higher energy prices have strengthened expectations that the US Federal Reserve could maintain a tighter monetary policy.

Key Market Factors

  • Brent crude rises above $100 per barrel.

  • Higher oil prices increase inflation concerns.

  • A strong US labor market supports higher interest rate expectations.

  • Markets currently price in an 82% probability of a September US rate hike.

  • Rising US Treasury yields and a stronger US dollar continue to pressure gold prices.

Focus Turns to the US Federal Reserve Meeting

Despite recent pressure, gold continues to attract buying interest near the $4,000 per ounce level, helping prevent deeper declines.

Investors are now closely watching next week's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting, which is expected to provide further guidance on interest rates and influence the direction of gold prices in the coming weeks.
