Dubai Mall Metro Station Expansion: RTA Adds Temporary Staircase to Ease Passenger Flow

Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has introduced a temporary staircase at Dubai Mall Metro Station as part of the station's ongoing expansion project, helping improve passenger movement and accessibility while construction work continues at one of the city's busiest transport hubs.

The temporary access route has been installed to reduce congestion and ensure smoother movement for commuters during the station's upgrade. The initiative is part of the RTA's efforts to maintain efficient operations while expanding the station to accommodate growing passenger numbers.

Dubai Mall Metro Station serves millions of passengers each year and experiences particularly high footfall during weekends, public holidays, major events and shopping festivals due to its direct connection to Dubai Mall, Burj Khalifa, and the surrounding Downtown Dubai district.

The expansion project aims to significantly increase the station's capacity, allowing it to handle rising demand driven by Dubai's growing population, booming tourism sector and expanding public transport network.

According to the RTA, the temporary staircase has been carefully designed to provide a safe and convenient alternative route for passengers while construction activities are underway. Clear directional signage has also been installed to help commuters navigate the station with ease.

Authorities have advised passengers to follow the guidance of station staff and observe all directional signs during the construction period to ensure smooth and safe travel.

The station upgrade forms part of the RTA's broader strategy to enhance Dubai's public transport infrastructure and improve the overall customer experience across the metro network.

Once completed, the expanded Dubai Mall Metro Station is expected to offer increased passenger capacity, improved accessibility, wider circulation areas and enhanced facilities, helping meet future demand as Dubai continues to attract more residents, visitors and international events.

The latest temporary measures reflect the RTA's commitment to maintaining uninterrupted services while investing in long-term improvements that support Dubai's vision of a smart, sustainable and world-class transport system.
