Dubai salesman wins 2-bedroom apartment after Dh964 shopping bill
DUBAI: A salesman in Dubai has won a two-bedroom apartment after spending just Dh964 on a shopping trip, turning an ordinary supermarket purchase into a life-changing prize.
Mohammed Salman Masood was at work on Sunday when he received an unexpected phone call from radio presenter Kris Fade during a live draw at Dubai Festival City. However, when Fade told him he had won, Masood initially did not realise that the prize was an apartment.
Salesman Receives Life-Changing Call at Work
Masood works as a salesman at a food items shop in Dubai and was on duty when the call came through.
His winning entry was linked to a Dh964 shopping bill dated May 27 from a Union Cooperative supermarket.
The purchase, made just days after the campaign began, ultimately secured him the grand prize more than three months later.
Two-Bedroom Apartment in Al Jaddaf
Masood won the campaign's biggest prize — a two-bedroom apartment in Al Jaddaf.
The property had been reserved as the grand prize for the final draw of Dubai's ‘Win Your Home in Dubai’ shopping campaign, which was held on Sunday, August 30.
The campaign gave shoppers the opportunity to turn their everyday purchases into a chance to win homes across Dubai.
Campaign Offered 12 Homes
The shopping campaign began on May 22 and featured a total of 12 homes as prizes.
These included:
-
11 studio apartments
-
One two-bedroom apartment as the grand prize
-
Shoppers who spent at least Dh500 at participating outlets were eligible to enter the draw by registering their purchase.
-
Masood's Dh964 purchase qualified him for the promotion.
From a Supermarket Bill to a New Home
Masood's winning purchase was made only five days after the campaign launched.
More than three months later, the routine shopping bill became the ticket to a new home in Dubai.
While Masood was simply carrying on with his regular workday, the live draw transformed an ordinary Dh964 shopping trip into a two-bedroom apartment in Al Jaddaf, making it a memorable win in Dubai's shopping campaign.
