Dubai to get second Etihad Rail station besides Al Yalayis: RTA chief
Dubai is planning to connect its Metro network with Etihad Rail and the upcoming Dubai-Abu Dhabi high-speed train, creating smoother connections for passengers travelling across the city and the UAE.
Rail Networks to Connect With Dubai Metro
Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said the railway projects would be integrated with Dubai’s existing Metro network.
He explained that the rail lines would connect through designated stations to different parts of Dubai. The city’s rail master plan also outlines how the various railway and public transport networks will be linked.
Etihad Rail Could Have Two Dubai Stations
The national Etihad Rail passenger network could have two stations in Dubai. One of the planned locations is Al Yalayis, while the location of the second station has not yet been announced.
Etihad Rail is also developing a separate high-speed train service between Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which will provide faster travel between the two emirates.
High-Speed Train to Have Two Dubai Stations
According to Al Tayer, the Dubai-Abu Dhabi high-speed train is expected to have two stations in Dubai.
One station will be located at Al Maktoum International Airport, while the second will be in Al Jaddaf. The planned connections with the Metro network are expected to make it easier for passengers to continue their journeys after arriving by train.
Better Connectivity Across Dubai
Al Tayer said Etihad Rail would play a key role in connecting Dubai with other cities across the UAE. Meanwhile, the RTA is coordinating with the railway company to ensure that Dubai’s local transport infrastructure supports the national rail projects.
The integration could allow passengers to travel more conveniently between railway stations, residential communities, business districts and other destinations using Dubai Metro, reducing dependence on private cars and taxis.
RailX Dubai Conference in 2027
Al Tayer announced the plans during a press conference for the upcoming RailX Dubai Conference and Exhibition.
The event is scheduled to take place at Dubai World Trade Centre from May 31 to June 2, 2027, bringing together stakeholders from the railway and transport sectors.
