Dubai's RTA transports 8.2 million passengers during Eid Al Adha holiday

During the five days of Eid Al Adha holiday from 25th to 29th May, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has transported as many as 8.2 million passengers through its network of public transport and mobility services. The numbers are indicative of the increasing dependence on public transport services around major holidays and peak travel seasons in the emirate.

 

Dubai Metro Leads Passenger Numbers


Dubai Metro topped the public transport records serving 3.3 million riders, combining annual Red and Green lines.

  • Passenger Numbers by Transport Mode

  • Dubai Metro: 3.3 million riders

  • Public Buses: 1.73 million passengers

  • Taxi (Dubai Taxi & Franchise Operators): 2.3 million riders

  • Dubai Tram: 114,300 passengers

  • Marine Transport: 304,300 passengers

  • Shared Mobility Services: 402,700 passengers

App based ride-hailing vehicles coupled with hourly rental cars and Bus-On-Demand services are classed under shared mobility.


Growing Demand for Public Transport


The Eid holiday numbers highlight the growing use of Dubai's integrated transport network. And even in busy holiday periods and big events, things like public transport, taxi or shared mobility solutions are still the way to go for many residents but also tourists who need an easy means to travel.


Strong Growth in Digital Services


In a separate statement, RTA confirmed that over 628 million transactions were made via its digital channels and platforms in 2025 alone, showcasing the sector's transformation into an increasingly online provision.


Digital Performance Highlights

 

  • Digital transactions continued to grow at 13% year-on-year

  • Revenues of AED 5.3 billion from digital

  • Over the previous year, it saw 20.6% growth in revenue

  • RTA – provides 105 digital services across six platforms‍

  • Digital adoption rate reached 96%

  • Customer satisfaction achieved 98%


The new statistics demonstrate Dubai's ongoing efforts to cement its reputation as a smart mobility leader, showcasing the continuous digital transformation of the emirate's transport services in the best interest of individuals and visitors.
