Flydubai carries 137 million passengers over 17 years of operations

Dubai-based airline flydubai has celebrated 17 years of operations, transforming its vision into one of the region's most notable aviation success stories.

Since its launch in June 2009, the airline has transported more than 137 million passengers and expanded its network to over 140 destinations across 58 countries, strengthening its position as a leading carrier in the Middle East.


Expanding Connectivity Across the Globe

  • Launched more than 100 destinations that previously had no direct flights to Dubai

The airline continued its growth trajectory last year with impressive operational figures.

  • Operated approximately 126,604 flights

  • Added 12 new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft

  • Expanded its fleet to 97 aircraft

  • Maintained an average fleet age of 5.5 years

  • Retired three next-generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft

 

Fleet Modernisation Efforts


As part of its commitment to enhancing passenger experience, flydubai upgraded eight Boeing 737-800 aircraft during the year.


This brought the total number of upgraded aircraft in its fleet to 25, improving comfort and service consistency across both business and economy classes.


Major Aircraft Orders at Dubai Airshow


The airline reinforced its long-term growth strategy during the Dubai Airshow by announcing significant aircraft orders.


New Orders Include:

 

  • 150 Airbus A321neo aircraft

  • 75 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft

The move will diversify flydubai's single-aisle fleet and support future expansion plans.


Expanding Global Partnerships


During 2025, flydubai signed 11 new airline connectivity agreements, increasing its network of partners to more than 42 airlines.


These partnerships now provide customers access to over 300 destinations worldwide.
