Kerala Unveils GCC Roadmap, Targets 150 Global Capability Centres and 2 Lakh Jobs by 2031
Kerala has unveiled a comprehensive GCC Feasibility Report at the Kerala GCC Outlook 2026 conclave held at Technopark, outlining an ambitious roadmap to attract and expand Global Capability Centres (GCCs) across the state.
The strategy aims to position Kerala as a competitive destination for global companies looking to establish technology, innovation, research and specialised business operations in India.
Kerala targets 150 GCCs by 2031
Under the roadmap, Kerala has set a target of hosting 150 GCCs by 2031 and generating around two lakh associated jobs.
The initiative is designed to build on Kerala’s strong talent base, technology infrastructure and growing digital economy while attracting investment from multinational companies.
GCCs have become an increasingly important part of India’s business ecosystem, with global companies using these centres for technology development, research and development, engineering, analytics, finance, human resources and other specialised functions.
Technopark at the centre of Kerala’s strategy
The Kerala GCC Outlook 2026 conclave at Technopark brought together stakeholders from the government, technology sector and business community to discuss the state’s potential as a GCC destination.
Technopark, one of India’s major technology parks, provides an established ecosystem of technology companies and skilled professionals, strengthening Kerala’s ability to support new GCC investments.
The state’s wider technology ecosystem, including Kochi and Kozhikode, is also expected to play an important role in expanding the GCC network beyond Thiruvananthapuram.
Focus on high-value jobs and innovation
Kerala’s strategy goes beyond attracting companies solely for back-office operations.
The roadmap aims to encourage GCCs focused on artificial intelligence, digital technologies, engineering, research and development, data analytics, cybersecurity and other high-value functions.
This could create opportunities for highly skilled professionals while strengthening the state’s position in the global technology and innovation landscape.
Creating a stronger investment ecosystem
The GCC strategy is also expected to focus on improving infrastructure, developing specialised talent and creating a business environment that makes it easier for international companies to establish and expand operations in Kerala.
By combining its educated workforce with its technology infrastructure and quality-of-life advantages, the state hopes to compete more strongly with established Indian GCC hubs.
Aiming for a major economic impact
The target of 150 GCCs and two lakh jobs by 2031 represents a significant ambition for Kerala’s technology sector.
If achieved, the expansion could generate new investment, strengthen the state’s knowledge economy and create opportunities across technology, professional services and related industries.
The Kerala GCC Outlook 2026 roadmap marks an important step in the state’s efforts to establish itself as a major destination for global capability and innovation-driven investment.
