Lubrizol and Grasim Open New CPVC Resin Plant in Gujarat

Lubrizol and Grasim Industries have inaugurated a new chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) resin plant in Vilayat, Gujarat. The facility strengthens Lubrizol's manufacturing network in India and improves local access to high-quality CPVC materials used in pipes and fittings.

The new unit works alongside Lubrizol's expanded compounding plant in Dahej. Together, both facilities create one of India's largest integrated CPVC manufacturing footprints. The project supports infrastructure development and improves supply chain reliability across the country.

New Facility Supports India's Growing Infrastructure Needs

The Vilayat plant will produce CPVC resin used in residential, commercial, and industrial projects. These materials play an important role in water distribution systems and piping networks.

By increasing domestic production, Lubrizol aims to reduce supply disruptions and provide customers with consistent quality. The company also plans to use its global expertise to deliver advanced material solutions designed for long-term performance.

Abhishek Shrivastav, Managing Director of Lubrizol IMEA, said the company introduced CPVC technology to India more than twenty years ago. He added that the new plant reflects Lubrizol's local manufacturing strategy and long-term commitment to the Indian market.

Partnership Combines Technology and Manufacturing Expertise

Grasim Industries partnered with Lubrizol to establish the new facility. Jayant V Dhobley, Business Head and CEO of Global Chemicals at Aditya Birla Group, said the project combines Grasim's manufacturing capabilities with Lubrizol's technology.

He noted that the collaboration will help deliver reliable CPVC materials and support the growth of India's chemical sector.

Why CPVC Matters for Modern Construction

CPVC is widely used in hot and cold water systems, fire sprinkler networks, HVAC systems, and industrial piping. The material offers strong resistance to heat and corrosion. It also provides durability and maintains water hygiene over long periods.

These properties make CPVC a preferred choice for modern infrastructure projects that require dependable water delivery and long service life.

Lubrizol Expands Investments Across India

The Vilayat plant marks another milestone in Lubrizol's six decades of operations in India. The company recently launched a Global Capabilities Center in Pune and expanded its Mumbai office in Vikhroli.

Lubrizol also increased production capacity at its Dahej compounding facility and announced plans for a dedicated India Innovation Center. These investments align with the country's Make in India initiative and support local manufacturing growth.
