UAE holds Iran 'fully responsible' for attacks and repercussions

The UAE has strongly condemned an Iranian drone attack that was intercepted by the country’s air defence systems over its territorial waters on Monday, August 31.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) described the incident as a dangerous escalation and unacceptable act of aggression, saying it violated the UAE’s sovereignty, security and territorial integrity and posed a direct threat to citizens and residents.

UAE Holds Iran Responsible

In its statement, the UAE said it holds Iran fully responsible for the attack and its consequences.

The ministry stressed that the incident violates the principles of international law and the UN Charter. It also called for an immediate end to such hostile attacks and full compliance with a cessation of hostilities.

The UAE emphasised that it would not tolerate threats to its security and sovereignty under any circumstances.

UAE Reserves Right to Respond

The UAE said it reserves its full and legitimate right to respond to attacks in a manner that protects its sovereignty, national security, territorial integrity and the safety of citizens, residents and visitors, in accordance with international law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said the attack was condemned and rejected on legal and humanitarian grounds.

UAE Air Defences Remain on High Alert

Earlier on Monday, the UAE Ministry of Defence confirmed that its air defence systems had dealt with a drone approaching from Iran over the country’s territorial waters.

The Armed Forces remained on full alert and ready to respond to threats, while air defence systems continued monitoring and tracking UAE airspace around the clock.

Authorities also urged the public to rely on official sources and avoid spreading rumours or inaccurate information.

Al Minhad Air Base Reports Denied

The UAE authorities also denied reports that Al Minhad Air Base had been targeted.

Officials urged the public to obtain information through official channels and refrain from circulating unverified reports.

UAE Condemns Attacks on Jordan

The UAE also condemned Iranian missile attacks targeting Jordan, describing attacks against the country as a flagrant violation of its sovereignty.

The latest developments came amid renewed military exchanges between the United States and Iran. US forces struck Iranian rocket launchers on Larak Island, while Iran subsequently launched attacks against US military targets in Jordan, further escalating regional tensions.

Calls for Immediate End to Hostilities

The UAE has reiterated its call for an immediate halt to hostile attacks and a full cessation of hostilities, stressing the importance of protecting regional security and stability.

The latest incident marks another escalation in tensions in the Gulf and comes as the UAE maintains heightened readiness to protect its territory and population.
