Fuel Prices Rise Again After July Decline
UAE fuel prices had fallen in July after increasing for four consecutive months amid the regional conflict.
However, prices rose again in August, followed by another increase announced for September.
Since the outbreak of the Middle East war on February 28, retail fuel prices in the UAE have climbed by more than 60 per cent, despite the temporary decline recorded in July.
Regional Conflict Continues to Affect Oil Markets
The latest fuel-price increase comes amid continued uncertainty in the region.
The 60-day ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran has expired, while Washington has indicated it does not intend to extend the arrangement. Tehran has also threatened to escalate the conflict.
Meanwhile, the Houthis have increased attacks on oil infrastructure in the Red Sea, adding further pressure and uncertainty to regional energy markets.
Developments affecting oil production, transportation and supply routes can influence international energy prices and, in turn, contribute to changes in UAE fuel rates.
Higher Fuel Costs Put Pressure on Household Budgets
Monthly changes in petrol and diesel prices have a direct impact on household finances because fuel is an essential and recurring expense for many UAE families.
Even relatively small increases per litre can add up over the course of a month, particularly for motorists who drive long distances for work, school and daily activities.
With September's rates now higher, drivers will need to allocate a larger share of their monthly budgets towards fuel expenses.
New Rates Take Effect September 1
The new UAE fuel prices will come into effect on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, marking another increase following the rise recorded in August.
Motorists will pay Dh3.80 per litre for Super 98, Dh3.69 for Special 95, Dh3.61 for E-Plus 91 and Dh4.30 for diesel throughout September, unless the rates are revised under the UAE's monthly fuel-pricing mechanism.
