Why Are Fuel Prices Rising?

Closure and disruption of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz
Tight global crude oil supply
Rising transportation and shipping costs
Reduced US crude oil inventories

Impact of Global Oil Markets

Oil benchmark Brent crude climbed as high as $114.44 per barrel in early May 2026 due to regional tensions. Although prices eased after a ceasefire announcement, they remain elevated.
