UAE President orders release of 956 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha 2026
UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has ordered the release of 956 inmates from penal and correctional centres across the country as part of a humanitarian drive to nurture compassion and strengthen social integration ahead of Eid Al Adha.
All convicts in the range of cases will be released under the plan. The President will have their debts covered, which were incurred during their sentences.
This decision has been taken before Eid Al Adha, and officials regarded it as a broader humanitarian approach that strengthens family relations between the fellows of the same tribe while supporting social stability, and reinforcing compassion and solidarity in society.
Humanitarian Gesture to Support Rehabilitation and Families
These pardons follow the UAERulers' tradition of undertaking the pardon and humanitarian gesture on major religious and national occasions, particularly those intended to grant individuals the opportunity to re-integrate into society.
This means hundreds of families across America and far beyond benefit, as those released can return to their communities with a lot less in the way of financial baggage.
Key highlights of the initiative:
-
956 Prisoners Release in UAE
-
Prisoners to have the financial debts sorted raw
-
Move Over Punishment, Hello Rehabilitation & Second Chances
-
Enhancing family bond and social cohesion
The initiatives promote social cohesiveness and are in keeping with the leadership's ongoing commitment to a justice system that focuses on rehabilitation and second chances.
