UAE to roll out AI curriculum across all schools; 22,000 teachers to be trained

The UAE has approved the implementation of an artificial intelligence (AI) curriculum across all public and private schools, marking a major step towards preparing students for a technology-driven future.

The curriculum will introduce students to AI data, algorithms, applications and potential risks, while also promoting awareness of the ethical use of artificial intelligence.

AI Education Across All Levels

The new curriculum is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand and use AI responsibly.

Students will learn about the opportunities and challenges associated with AI, including its applications and risks. The programme aims to build strong AI awareness from an early stage and prepare future generations for changing workplace and technological environments.

The Cabinet said a pilot programme and evaluation of the AI curriculum in public schools had already delivered positive results.

22,000 Teachers to Receive AI Training

Alongside the student curriculum, the UAE will train approximately 22,000 teachers and educators to use AI tools in education.

The training will focus on using artificial intelligence to support:

• Teaching and learning

• Student assessment

• Curriculum analysis

• Lesson planning

• Innovation among students

The programme is intended to help educators adapt to the rapidly changing role of technology in classrooms.

UAE Seeks to Lead in AI Education

The decisions were announced following a UAE Cabinet meeting chaired by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Sheikh Mohammed said the UAE is among the pioneering countries to develop integrated AI curricula for students across different educational levels.

The Cabinet has also approved a mechanism to make the UAE's AI curriculum and its components available to education ministries and the international education community.

Teachers Encouraged to Become Lifelong Learners

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the need for teachers to continuously develop their skills as technology transforms education.

He stressed that the rapid technological changes taking place today will reshape educational processes, tools and teaching methods.

The UAE's new initiative therefore aims not only to teach students about AI but also to equip teachers with the skills needed to integrate the technology effectively into modern classrooms.
