UAE updates visa-on-arrival rule: 6 new nationalities now eligible for 60-day stay
The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has announced a major expansion of its visa-on-arrival policy by adding six new nationalities to the eligibility list. The updated rules now allow eligible travelers to apply for either a 14-day or 60-day entry visa, making travel to the UAE easier while supporting tourism, business, and cultural exchange.
Six New Nationalities Added
Previously, only Indian nationals were eligible under this visa category. The expanded list now includes nationals of:
Indonesia
Vietnam
Thailand
Philippines
Kenya
South Africa
Residence Permit Requirements
To qualify for the visa, applicants and their accompanying family members must:
Be nationals of one of the eligible countries.
Hold a valid residence permit from one of the approved countries, including the US, UK, EU Member States, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, or Canada.
Eligible travelers can choose between a 14-day or 60-day visa depending on their travel requirements.
Visa Validity, Extension and Fees
The ICP confirmed that the 14-day visa can be extended once while staying in the UAE. However, the 60-day visa is issued as a single-entry, non-extendable visa. Visitors must leave the UAE before their visa expires, as an overstay fine of Dh50 per day will apply.
Visa Fees:
14-day visa: Dh100
60-day visa: Dh250
