UAE weather: Red alert issued for fog; temperatures to hit 48ºC in some areas

The alerts are primarily for western coastal regions, with visibility dropping to less than a mile during the early morning hours.

The alerts are in effect until 9:00 AM, with authorities urging motorists to drive carefully and adhere to traffic safety rules. Abu Dhabi Police also urged motorists to comply with speed limits and exercise caution due to fog resulting in poor visibility.

Most areas are blanketed in fog early Wednesday, but temperatures are set to jump up across the nation after that. Forecasts state that some places, like Gasyoura in Abu Dhabi, may see temperatures reach 48°C.

In major conurbations like Dubai and Abu Dhabi, maximum temperatures are expected to be near 43°C, with minimums of 30°C and 29°C respectively. People are encouraged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity in the hottest parts of the afternoon and be on guard against heat-related illnesses.

North-westerly winds and sea conditions in Arabian Gulf are ranging between slight to moderate, gradually turning into rough by late night. On the other hand, slight conditions will prevail in the Oman Sea.
