Sharjah Tragedy: 32-Year-Old Indian Mother of Two Dies After Sudden Collapse

Sharjah: The 32-year-old Indian woman from Kerala who collapsed in her house in Sharjah has died. Dr Afeena Raheem was a qualified dentist by profession who had taken time out from her career to raise her children.

The tragic incident occurred at the family's residence in Sharjah, her relatives are now making plans to fly UAE nationals back home to India. Khaleej Times and Gulf News reported that the exact cause of her death is yet to be confirmed.


Sudden Death of Sheikha bint Al Ali at Sharjah Home

More than four years ago, Afeena lived in the UAE with her husband and children. Her husband Yasar T, said she seemed fine until fleeing and had not previously shown any signs of being sick.

In statements to the family, Afeena collapsed in their house located in Al Qasimia, Sharjah. Her husband was away at work when it took place.

Ramsheena, her sister-in-law, was also at home then. Family members said she found Afeena after she heard one of the children's screams.


Family Member Attempts CPR

Ramsheena said she had discovered Afeena lying on the kitchen floor. She started CPR right away and called an ambulance.

An ambulance rushed Afeena to a private hospital. But doctors were unable to save her.

The family has said they are still unclear on the exact medical cause of her death and awaiting further details.

The dentist had taken a career break to raise her children

Afeena was a qualified dentist but had taken off time to care for her child.

Her husband said she wanted to remain at home with the young family. That they are about three-and-a-half years old and one-and-a-half years old.

Since the tragedy, family have stepped in to help look after the children. Afeena's husband is now left to juggle the loss and raise a young family alone.


Family Recently Returned From India

Her husband said the family had gone to India for his summer holidays and returned to the UAE on August 19.

The incident happened less than a month after they came back. The family are now finalising funeral arrangements after Afeena's death, with relatives supporting them.


Family Arranges Repatriation to Kerala

Afeena hails from a Malappuram family in Kerala, where her mom and two sisters lives.

The family is currently awaiting necessary documentation to bring her remains back to India, her husband said. She plans to take her body back to the hometown for cremation.

It is a process that has to pass the required paperwork in the UAE before returning home.

Her husband and two young children were devastated by her sudden death. The cause of the collapse has not been established, and relatives have been concentrating on bringing their children out and into their custody.
