UAE announces Hijri New Year holiday for public and private sectors

The UAE government has declared a federal holiday in the public and private sectors for Monday, June 15, 2026 (Hijri New Year 1448).


Three-Day Weekend for Many Residents


The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced the holiday in accordance with the UAE Cabinet's approved holiday calendar for 2026. You may return to normal work hours on Tuesday, June 16.


Because the holiday occurs on a Monday, many workers who have a Saturday-Sunday weekend will get a three-day break.


Four-Day Off for Sharjah Employees and Students


Sharjah weekend to be extended even longer for residents Those in the emirate like government staff and school students, who have a four-day week with Fridays to Sundays off alongside Monday's public holiday, will receive a four-day break.
